Celebrity is a one-act comedy that explores themes of identity, social perception, and the unexpected consequences of misfortune. The play revolves around Tamazi, a lonely man whose life takes a bizarre turn when a thief breaks into his apartment.

Celebrity is a witty, thought-provoking exploration of how misfortune can ironically bring people together, while questioning what truly makes someone “special” in the eyes of others.

Plot Summary:

• Scene 1: A thief enters Tamazi’s flat, demanding money and valuables. Instead of resisting, Tamazi reacts with detached curiosity, repeatedly remarking that the experience feels disappointingly “ordinary.” The thief grows increasingly frustrated with Tamazi’s philosophical musings but eventually takes what he can find. Before leaving, Tamazi begs the thief to hit him hard enough to knock him unconscious, wanting to fully embody the role of a victim.
• Scene 2: Tamazi lies on the floor, reveling in his newfound status as a “celebrity”—someone who will now be noticed by his neighbors. A militiaman (policeman) arrives to investigate, but the interaction devolves into absurdity as Tamazi’s neighbors, Sandro and Irina, intrude with drunken toasts and celebrations. Guliko, a neighbor Tamazi has long admired, arrives and tends to his injuries, showing him unexpected kindness. The scene highlights Tamazi’s desire for recognition and connection.
• Scene 3: Left alone with Guliko, Tamazi confesses his loneliness and dreams of a family. Their tender moment is interrupted when the thief returns, remorseful and seeking forgiveness. He reveals he broke into the wrong flat and returns the stolen items. Tamazi and Guliko, however, are dismayed—their “celebrity” status hinges on the robbery. The play ends with Tamazi and Guliko bonding over their shared hope for a future together, while Tamazi muses on the irony of life’s observers and participants.

მოქმედება ხდება თანამედროვე დროში. ჩვეულებრივი, არაფრით გამორჩეული მოქალაქის – თამაზის ბინაში.

როდესაც თამაზი სავარძელში რბილად მოკალათებული ისვენებს, მას სახლში ქურდი უვარდება. თამაზი ცდილობს ქურდს აუხსნას, რომ ძალა არ  იხმაროს, რომ დიდი სიხარულით გადასცემს ქურდს თავის სიმდიდრეს. ქურდს თამაზის ნალაპარაკების არა ესმის და ძალით გამოსტყუებს დანაზოგს. თამაზი გაკვირვებულია და ამავე დროს გახარებული.

გაკვირვებულია იმით, რომ ხელმოკლედ ცხოვრობს, ხოლო სიხარული გამოიწვია ერთმა გარემოებამ: ამიერიდან მას დაყაჩაღებულის სახელი დაერქმევა და მთელი სამეზობლო მასზე თითით აჩვენებს, რომ თამაზი გაქურდეს. ამიერიდან იგი ყურადღების ცენტრში მოექცევა. მასზე ალაპარაკდებიან.

თამაზის წინასწარმეტყველება გამართლდა. თამაზს პოლიციელი ესტუმრება და მცირეოდენი დაკითხვის შემდეგ, ქრთამის სანაცვლოდ  ნაქურდალის უპრობლემოდ დაბრუნებას შესთავაზებს. თამაზი უარზეა და ცდილობს აუხსნას პოლიციელს, რომ მისთვის ქონება არაა მთავარი, მთავარია, რომ მთელი სამეზობლო გაიცნობს, რომ მასზე თითით აჩვენებენ და თამაზს ერთი ქალბატონიც შეამჩნევს…

სამეზობლო თამაზთან იკრიბება და თამაზიც მორიდებით ჰყვება გაქურდვის დეტალებს. სიმპათიური ქალბატონიც იქ არის და სიამოვნებით თანხმდება თამაზის წინადადებას საღამოს ერთად გატარებაზე.

თამაზი ახალ გეგმებს აწყობს: ახლა იგი იმ დროზე ოცნებობს, როდესაც ყველა მასზე ილაპარაკებს, რომ თამაზმა ცოლი მოიყვანა, რომ ახლა იგი თითით საჩვენებელია.

Одинокий и чудаковатый Тамаз становится жертвой вора, который врывается в его квартиру. Однако вместо сопротивления Тамаз ведёт себя неожиданно: он философствует, спокойно отдаёт свои вещи и даже просит вора ударить его посильнее, чтобы выглядеть героем в глазах соседей. После ограбления в квартиру наведываются соседи, милиционер и симпатичная Гулико, которая проявляет к Тамазу заботу. Благодаря происшествию Тамаз становится центром внимания, а его отношения с Гулико перерастают в нечто большее. В финале вор возвращается, раскаивается, но Тамаз и Гулико прогоняют его, наслаждаясь новообретённой близостью. Пьеса иронично исследует темы одиночества, социального восприятия и человеческих отношений.
